Humble Beginnings and Family Support

On March 27, 2011, Vaibhav was born in Tajpur, Bihar's Samastipur district. From an early age, his father, Sanjiv Suryavanshi, who was a farmer by trade, had a crucial role in spotting and developing his talent. Sanjiv began operating a small shop to support the family after selling a portion of farmland to pay for Vaibhav's initial training. Another important person was Vaibhav's mother, Aarti, who got up as early as two in the morning. to cook for his lengthy training sessions.

Out of three sons, he is the middle child. Vaibhav's younger and older brothers helped with everyday household chores while he concentrated on cricket. Usha Singh, his grandmother, has also been a pillar of the family, providing emotional support throughout his journey.

Early Training and Youth Cricket

When Vaibhav was just four years old, he practiced cricket with a plastic ball under his father's tutelage. Later, he trained under coach Brijesh at a cricket academy in Samastipur. Manish Ojha, a former Ranji cricket player, provided him with expert instruction as his potential developed, helping to hone his temperament and technique.

He quickly became well-known in junior cricket, winning age-group competitions including the Heman Trophy and the Vijay Merchant Trophy (Under-16). With an outstanding average of 78.6, he scored 393 runs in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy after amassing 800 runs in just eight games in the Heman Trophy. He was included in the India B Under-19 squad for the quadrangular series as a result of his performances.

Record-Breaking Domestic Debuts

At just 12 years and 284 days old, Vaibhav made his first-class debut for Bihar in the Ranji Trophy on January 5, 2024, becoming the second-youngest debutant in the history of first-class Indian cricket. Later in the year, he became the youngest player to play in both the List A and T20 forms for Bihar, further shattering records.

Rajasthan Royals and IPL Stardom

Following an incredible trial in Nagpur, Vaibhav was signed by the Rajasthan Royals in December 2024 for ₹1.10 crore. The coaching crew, particularly RR's batting coach Vikram Rathour, was pleased by his poise and ability to make big shots. At 14 years and 23 days, Vaibhav made his IPL debut against the Lucknow Super Giants on April 19, 2025, making him the youngest player to ever compete in the competition. He scored a quick 34 from 20 balls after hitting a six off his opening ball.

On April 28, 2025, he made history by smashing a century off 35 balls against the Gujarat Titans, amassing 101 runs with seven fours and eleven sixes. It was the fastest century ever scored by an Indian and the second-fastest in IPL history. Together with Yashasvi Jaiswal, he amassed 166 runs, which helped RR win one of their most convincing games of the year.

Role in the Team

With his aggressive style, Vaibhav, a top-order batsman for the Rajasthan Royals, creates explosive beginnings. In addition, he bowls sluggish left-arm orthodoxy on the side.
