On October 9, 2002, Kunal Singh Rathore was born in Kota, Rajasthan. His early cricketing aspirations were greatly aided by his barrister father, Virendra Rathore. Kunal showed great promise from an early age, and his father fully encouraged him to pursue a career in professional cricket.

Although his father's life story is widely known, information regarding his mother, wife, son, daughter, and siblings is not. According to available data, Kunal Rathore is single, childless, and focused entirely on his cricketing career.

Domestic Cricket Career

In the domestic circuit of Rajasthan, Rathore's cricketing abilities started to take shape. He was a batsman-wicketkeeper who impressed with his ability to manage pace and spin. He first gained notoriety after he made his T20 debut for Rajasthan in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on October 11, 2022. The Rajasthan Royals (RR) purchased Kunal Rathore at the IPL auction in 2023 for ₹20 lakh. Rathore spent a large portion of the season studying from veteran players, particularly RR captain Sanju Samson, after joining the team as a backup wicketkeeper-batsman.

However, there was a discernible change in Rathore's engagement during the 2025 IPL season. Rathore was given more opportunities in the starting lineup as RR experimented with different lineups and players rested because of minor injuries. He replied confidently, displaying excellent control behind the stumps and making brief appearances in the lower-middle order.

His ability to rotate strike under pressure was essential in close games, and his left-handed hitting added diversity to RR's middle-order. Even though Sanju Samson is RR's primary wicketkeeper, Kunal performed well when called upon, displaying good glove technique and fast reactions.
