Family and Early Life

Akhila Seneviratne, Theekshana's grandmother, reared him. Maheesh has talked openly about the emotional support and direction his grandma gave him throughout his early years, but details regarding his father are still unclear. He has two sisters and a younger brother named Sithma Pawan. Bhashini Priyangika, his cousin, has a reputation as an entrepreneur.

After enrolling at the Asoka de Silva School of Cricket in 2010, he went on to St. Benedict's College in Colombo to study cricket. His enthusiasm and performance won him accolades, including the All-Island Best All-Rounder title in school cricket, despite his early fitness issues. He had little money growing up, but he had a lot of ambition.

Physical Transformation and Military Discipline

At Sri Lanka's National Cricket Academy, Theekshana formerly weighed more than 100 kg, had trouble moving quickly, and failed fitness tests. His life changed in 2020 when he enlisted in the Gajaba Regiment of the Sri Lankan Army. He drastically decreased his skinfold score, increased his stamina, and dropped more than 22 kilogrammes while following military discipline.
