Early Life and Family

Abhishek's family is fond of cricket. Raj Kumar Sharma, his father, was a cricket player before turning to coaching. Early on, Raj saw Abhishek's potential and started teaching him when he was just 3½ years old. Throughout his cricket career, his mother, Manju Sharma, has been a constant source of emotional support. Komal Sharma, a physiotherapist, and Sania Sharma, a married mother of a daughter named Amayra, are Abhishek's two older sisters.

Abhishek says he still has a close relationship with his family and thanks them for helping him stay focused and grounded despite his rising stardom.

Personal Life

Domestic and Youth Career

Abhishek started playing cricket in Punjab, where he competed for the state in a number of age-group competitions. In 16 games that season, he amassed 484 runs at an incredible strike rate of 200. In addition, he finished the competition with the most sixes (42) and the fastest half-century for SRH. International Career

In July 2024, Abhishek played his first Twenty20 International match for India against Zimbabwe. The spectacular century he scored came in just his second game. He scored 135 off 54 balls against England in 2025, with 13 sixes and seven fours, shattering the mark for the highest individual T20I total by an Indian. He rose to the second position in the ICC T20I rankings as a result of this performance.

Role in SRH Team

For SRH, Abhishek serves as both a useful left-arm orthodox spinner and an aggressive top-order batsman. Although his explosive batting is his main attribute, he occasionally bowls overs to give Sunrisers Hyderabad depth and adaptability. More significantly, he has emerged as a team leader who mentors young players and frequently helps develop on-field tactics.

Off the Field

In his spare time, Abhishek likes to play golf and is well-known for loving dogs. Pizza is sometimes his cheat meal, although rajma-chawal is his favourite dish. He is still grounded and focused on his family in spite of his stardom.
